The small town of Kenedy, Texas was once home to over 3,500 interned aliens during World War II. Camp Kenedy housed men of German, Japanese, and Italian descent who were ordered from their homes and separated from their families. Many were from Latin America.

A group of young women who all grew up in Kenedy and were somewhat familiar with the camp’s history, created a documentary on Facebook, connecting deeply with the town’s past—meeting a man from Germany, as well as relatives of former internees and camp workers.

“The purpose of this documentary is to revive Kenedy’s forgotten history, reflect on the decisions made by our country, and consider how we might respond if faced with a similar situation in the future.”
